Role Overview – Consultant Psychiatrist

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will assess, diagnose, and manage a wide range of psychiatric disorders across inpatient and outpatient settings. You will work closely with psychologists, primary care physicians, neurologists, nurses, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver comprehensive mental health services and individualized treatment plans.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage adult psychiatric disorders in inpatient and outpatient settings
• Develop personalized treatment plans using evidence-based psychiatric practices
• Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications
• Conduct psychiatric assessments, risk evaluations, and follow-up consultations
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes
• Provide counseling, education, and support to patients and their families
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with healthcare regulations
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing medical education

Requirements

• Medical degree from a recognized institution
• Board-certified or equivalent qualification in Psychiatry
• Minimum 8–10 years of post-specialization experience
• Strong experience in both inpatient (IP) and outpatient (OP) psychiatry
• Valid DHA, DOH, or MOH Consultant license or eligibility
• Experience in adult/general psychiatry (subspecialty experience is an advantage)
• Bilingual communication skills (Arabic and English preferred)
