The company was established in 2013, with the aim to make a difference in the UAE Market on how Recruitment Company’s in the region work, and deal with candidates. Dr Expat quickly became one of the leading and respected Recruitment and Licensing Agencies, which now deal with over 150 clients in the GCC.

We support professionals to complete their licensing and pre-employment processes and successfully commence in a post and have developed one of the largest databases of Healthcare professionals comprising of Doctors, Nurses and other healthcare-associated candidates from countries across the world.
Our story
Dr Expat was founded in the UAE in 2013 by Kaneez Nabijee after she recognised a need for a more honest, supportive and professional approach to healthcare recruitment.
Healthcare professionals moving to the region were often expected to navigate licensing, employment and relocation without clear guidance. Employers, meanwhile, needed a trusted partner capable of identifying appropriately qualified professionals and supporting them through the entire process.
Dr Expat was created to bridge that gap.
Since then, we have supported hundreds of doctors, dentists, nurses and allied healthcare professionals with their licensing and career journeys, while building trusted relationships with more than 150 healthcare organisations across the GCC.
Before founding Dr Expat in 2013, Kaneez spent 13 years working in financial services. When her role was made redundant, she saw it as an opportunity to take a different direction and build something of her own.
Her decision was shaped by her personal experience of relocating to the UAE and dealing with recruitment agencies. She knew the process could be better, more honest, more personal and more focused on the individual behind the CV.
She founded Dr Expat because she wanted every healthcare professional to feel that they were being treated as a person, not simply as another candidate or placement. From the beginning, the business grew largely through referrals and recommendations. For her, that has always been the greatest measure of trust.
As Dr Expat continues to grow, the values remain the same. We are not trying to become a faceless corporate organisation. We want to know the people we support, understand their circumstances and provide clear, personal guidance throughout their journey.
However much we grow, we will remain an honest, loyal and trusted partner to every healthcare professional and organisation we work with.
Today, Kaneez remains closely involved in the business and continues to shape its approach: treating candidates with respect, understanding employers’ requirements properly and never losing sight of the person behind every CV.
