Role Overview – Specialist Psychiatrist

As a Specialist Psychiatrist, you will assess, diagnose, and manage patients with a broad range of psychiatric and behavioural health conditions while delivering evidence-based treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.

You will work collaboratively with psychologists, counsellors, social workers, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to provide comprehensive mental healthcare and promote long-term patient wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and manage psychiatric disorders across adult patients
• Develop personalised treatment plans using evidence-based psychiatric care
• Manage mood disorders, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and other mental health conditions
• Prescribe and monitor psychiatric medications
• Conduct psychiatric evaluations and risk assessments
• Provide patient and family counselling regarding treatment plans
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary mental health professionals
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation in accordance with DOH regulations
• Participate in quality improvement and clinical governance initiatives
• Stay updated with advances in psychiatry and mental healthcare

Requirements

• Medical Degree (MD or equivalent) with Specialisation in Psychiatry
• Valid DOH Licence or DOH Eligibility
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Specialist Psychiatrist
• Expertise in diagnosing and treating mood disorders, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and other psychiatric conditions
• Strong communication and patient management skills
• Arabic-speaking candidates are preferred
