Role Overview – Specialist Ophthalmologist (Posterior Segment / Surgical Retina)
As a Specialist Ophthalmologist with expertise in Surgical Retina, you will diagnose and manage complex retinal disorders while performing advanced posterior segment surgical procedures.
You will collaborate with ophthalmologists, optometrists, retina specialists, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver comprehensive, evidence-based eye care using the latest surgical technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and manage retinal and vitreoretinal diseases
- Perform advanced posterior segment and vitreoretinal surgical procedures
- Evaluate and treat retinal detachments, diabetic retinopathy, macular disorders, and retinal vascular diseases
- Perform intravitreal injections and laser retinal procedures where appropriate
- Provide outpatient consultations and post-operative follow-up care
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary ophthalmology teams
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and patient records
- Follow international ophthalmology and patient safety guidelines
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing medical education
Requirements
- Medical Degree with specialization in Ophthalmology
- Fellowship or advanced training in Surgical Retina / Posterior Segment
- Minimum 3–5 years of post-specialization experience
- Valid UAE License (DHA, DOH, or MOH) or Eligibility Letter is mandatory
- Excellent communication and patient management skills
- Candidates currently practicing in the UAE will be preferred
