Role Overview – Consultant Ophthalmologist

As a Consultant Ophthalmologist, you will diagnose, treat, and surgically manage a wide range of ophthalmic conditions while providing specialist care within your subspecialty area, including Oculoplasty, Pediatric Ophthalmology, Glaucoma, or Cornea.

You will work alongside experienced multidisciplinary teams to deliver evidence-based eye care using advanced diagnostic and surgical technologies. This role offers an excellent opportunity for ophthalmic surgeons seeking to practice within a well-established tertiary healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and manage complex ophthalmic disorders
  • Perform advanced ophthalmic surgical procedures within your subspecialty
  • Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and diagnostic evaluations
  • Develop personalised treatment plans using evidence-based clinical practices
  • Manage pre-operative and post-operative patient care
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to optimise patient outcomes
  • Maintain accurate patient records in accordance with UAE healthcare regulations
  • Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centred ophthalmology services
  • Stay updated with advancements in ophthalmic surgery and eye care

Requirements

  • Consultant qualification with formal subspecialty training or relevant experience in Oculoplasty, Pediatric Ophthalmology, Glaucoma, or Cornea
  • General Ophthalmology licence is acceptable for all subspecialties except Pediatric Ophthalmology
  • Pediatric Ophthalmology candidates must hold a recognised Pediatric Ophthalmology subspecialty licence
  • Surgical Ophthalmologist with experience performing ophthalmic procedures (medical ophthalmology only will not be considered)
  • Experience within a tertiary care hospital is mandatory
  • Strong clinical, surgical, and communication skills
