Role Overview

As a Consultant General Ophthalmologist, you will diagnose, treat, and surgically manage a wide range of ophthalmic conditions. You will provide both outpatient and inpatient ophthalmology services while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety, clinical excellence, and evidence-based care.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage a broad spectrum of medical and surgical eye conditions.
• Perform comprehensive ophthalmic examinations and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Perform cataract surgery and other general ophthalmic surgical procedures.
• Manage emergency ophthalmology cases and complex referrals.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated patient care.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with DOH and hospital standards.
• Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, and continuing medical education.
• Deliver compassionate, patient-focused care with excellent clinical outcomes.

Requirements

• Licensed as a Consultant General Ophthalmologist.
• Valid DOH Consultant License or eligibility for DOH Consultant licensure.
• Experience in a tertiary care hospital setting (clinic-only experience will not be considered).
• Strong surgical case mix with extensive ophthalmic surgical experience.
• Excellent clinical decision-making and patient management skills.
• Strong communication and multidisciplinary teamwork abilities.
• Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous professional development.
