Role Overview – Specialist Critical Care Medicine (ECMO & Cardiac ICU)

As a Specialist in Critical Care Medicine, you will manage critically ill adult and cardiac ICU patients requiring advanced life support, ECMO therapy, and complex critical care interventions.

You will work alongside cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, anesthesiologists, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary ICU teams to deliver evidence-based critical care and improve patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage critically ill patients in Cardiac ICU and Intensive Care Units
  • Assess, initiate, and manage ECMO therapy for eligible patients
  • Provide advanced ventilatory support and hemodynamic management
  • Perform invasive monitoring and critical care procedures
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary cardiac and critical care teams
  • Participate in emergency response and rapid intervention for critically ill patients
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and treatment plans
  • Follow international ICU protocols and patient safety standards
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing medical education

Requirements

  • Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognised institution
  • Specialist qualification in Critical Care Medicine or Intensive Care Medicine
  • Hands-on experience with ECMO in adult or pediatric patients
  • Familiarity with Cardiac ICU protocols and advanced ventilatory support
  • Specialist-level Critical Care certification required
  • Eligible for DOH Specialist licensure
  • Available to join within three months
  • Strong communication and multidisciplinary teamwork skills
