Role Overview – Consultant Ophthalmologist
As a Consultant Ophthalmologist, you will diagnose, treat, and surgically manage a broad spectrum of ophthalmic conditions while delivering comprehensive eye care using advanced diagnostic and surgical technologies.
You will manage both routine and complex ophthalmic cases and, where applicable, provide specialised care within subspecialties including Retina, Cornea, Glaucoma, Oculoplasty, Paediatric Ophthalmology, or Refractive Surgery. Working closely with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, you will deliver evidence-based care while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and clinical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and manage a wide range of ophthalmic disorders
- Perform advanced ophthalmic surgical procedures
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and diagnostic evaluations
- Manage patients across outpatient, inpatient, and surgical settings
- Provide subspecialty ophthalmology services where applicable
- Develop personalised treatment plans using evidence-based clinical practices
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to optimise patient outcomes
- Maintain accurate patient documentation in accordance with Qatar healthcare regulations
- Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives
- Stay updated with advancements in ophthalmology and microsurgical techniques
Requirements
- Medical Degree recognised by the relevant health authority
- Arab Board, European Board, American Board, FRCS, CCT, or equivalent Tier 1 qualification in Ophthalmology
- Western-trained candidates highly preferred
- Minimum 8–10 years of post-board Consultant-level experience in a reputed tertiary hospital or eye institute
- Strong experience in Comprehensive Ophthalmology and one or more ophthalmic subspecialties, including Retina, Cornea, Glaucoma, Oculoplasty, Paediatric Ophthalmology, or Refractive Surgery
- Current eligibility for or ability to obtain Consultant licensure in Qatar
- Excellent surgical, clinical, and communication skills
Salary & Benefits
Salary: QAR 80,000 – QAR 90,000 per month
