UAE Embracing Virtual Reality For Treatments
The UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) recently announced plans to begin utilising Virtual Reality (or VR) as a rehabilitation tool.
VR will preliminarily be used in the treatment of stroke patients, cerebral palsy, Parkinsons and children with developmental disorders. It is also a useful tool in the treatment of balance disorder, with VR offering a safe alternative to regular therapy when improving the balance in patients. Numerous patients whom have tried VR reported back that they both enjoyed the VR therapy and that they suffered no side effects.
MoHAP explained that the VR Rehabilitation Technology utilises virtual world simulations to deliver effective intervention.
These developments are in line with plans to fully integrate Artificial Intelligence into medical services and to make the UAE a leading global destination for healthcare.
