They are a recognized Children’s Hospice Group that provides children and young people (up to the age of 19 years old and their families) end-of-life holistic nursing care, respite, and support with the compassion and empathy necessary in this challenging environment.
Role Responsibilities
- To provide end-of-life care, and pre and post-bereavement support, including Bereavement Suite duties in line with the organization’s competency framework
- Where required, to provide assessments and care in the home and community settings
- Support Children’s Palliative Care Assistants, in liaison with the Education Department, with Proficiencies
- Assist with mentoring of Children’s Palliative Care Assistants, new Nurses, and students where required
- You will be expected to work towards the role of Shift Co-ordinator which undertakes the line management of a shift, acting as the central point of contact in the event of a clinical or nonclinical emergency situation, delegates tasks and duties throughout the day, allocate children to team members appropriately, undertakes an efficient hand over to the incoming shift co-ordinator and team and refers any matters for the attention of the care management team, as considered necessary
- To adopt a positive and pro-active approach to personal and professional development, performance appraisal, and learning opportunities and to regularly participate in reflective practice
- Identify skills, knowledge and/or service improvements and seek support and mentorship to facilitate personal development alongside the organization’s identified business needs
Essential
- Registered Nurse on subpart 1 of the Nursing and Midwifery Council Registers [Children’s Nurse, Adult Nurse or Learning Disability Nurse]
- Educated to Level 6 of the National Qualifications Framework, or willing to undertake
- Able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of clinical skills in pediatric nursing
- Able to demonstrate awareness of safeguarding children and young people
- Experience of working with children with disabilities and complex health needs
- Hold a mentorship qualification or be prepared to work towards
- Excellent IT skills • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Willingness to travel
Salary range (subject to individual background and experience assessment following interview)

South East London
Band 5 – £31,035 – £38,084
